Spot the Fake For Anime Base Upgrades Guide

Fill podiums, step the green Cash button, and spend on the notice-board upgrades that gate Rebirth.

Base Upgrades

Your base is the bank in Spot the Fake For Anime. Stolen characters only matter when they sit on podiums, generate Cash, and feed the upgrades that unlock the rest of the game. This guide covers podium placement, the green Cash button, notice-board / shop Cash sinks, and why base investment gates Rebirth.

Pair it with Treadmill and Trails — speed gets hauls home; base upgrades make those hauls pay.

What the base is for

At a high level your base should always be doing three jobs:

  1. Holding characters on open podiums so income is never zero.
  2. Banking Cash when you step the green collect buttons.
  3. Converting Cash into treadmill tiers, Trails, and home-base upgrades that unlock maps.

If any one of those jobs is idle, progression stalls even when your door reading is perfect.

Podium placement habits

After a successful steal:

  1. Path straight home — do not emote in the lane with a contested haul (How to Steal).
  2. Place the character on an open podium immediately.
  3. Wait for the unit to finish revealing if the current build needs a short delay before income starts.
  4. Step the green button in front of the podium to collect generated Cash.
  5. Decide whether this unit stays or gets swapped when something better lands (Players, Rare Variants, Tier List).

Empty podiums are wasted slots. A weak early farmer still beats air. Fill every podium you own before you obsess over perfect rarity.

The green Cash button (do not skip it)

Characters generate Cash on the podium, but you still need to collect. Stepping the green button banks what they produced. Common failure modes:

  • Delivering a rare, celebrating, and leaving without collecting.
  • Assuming E alone always banks income on every build — physically step the button.
  • Running back to a gateway while three green pads are glowing unread.

Make “place → green button” a single muscle-memory combo. Uncollected Cash is fake progress.

Notice board and shop Cash sinks

Home-base upgrades are purchased with Cash through the notice board in front of the base (and related shop UI). That board is where you sink earnings into longer-term power: stronger base progression, unlocks tied to Rebirth thresholds, and quality-of-life that keeps the loop comfortable.

How to use shops without tilting:

  • After each Cash spike, open the notice board / shop and buy the upgrade that fixes your real bottleneck.
  • Early bottleneck is almost always movement speed on the treadmill, then base tiers, then Trails.
  • Mid-game bottleneck is often empty podium efficiency or Rebirth requirement progress.
  • Read live prices in-game. This wiki will not invent fixed upgrade ladders that go stale after a patch — confirm on Updates when shops feel different.

Code rewards from Codes should hit these sinks while you are still slow, not only cosmetics.

Why base upgrades gate Rebirth

Rebirth unlocks new characters, zones, base customization, maps, and bonuses after you upgrade your home base and treadmill the specified number of times. Skipping base upgrades while only training speed (or only buying Trails) leaves the Rebirth panel locked even if you “feel” ready.

Ready signals:

  • Podiums stay filled with intentional farmers, not random leftovers.
  • Green buttons are part of every return trip.
  • Notice-board tiers have moved enough that the Rebirth UI no longer looks impossibly far.
  • You can clear current gateways with the habits in How to Spot the Fake.

Not-ready signals:

  • Half your podiums empty “for later.”
  • You never open the notice board because menus feel scary.
  • You want to Rebirth because chat said so, not because the panel requirements are close.

Empty podiums waste income

Every empty podium is a silent tax. Fix it with a boring plan:

  1. Run a safe zone you can clear without a penalty.
  2. Steal a mid character you can actually deliver.
  3. Fill the empty slot.
  4. Collect.
  5. Only then chase a notification rare or a PvP contest.

Collectors who leave slots open while camping rare pings often earn less than casual players who keep every pad working. Income funds the speed that makes rare hunts possible.

Base upgrades vs treadmill vs Trails

Think in roles:

SinkPrimary job
TreadmillRaises movement speed for steals and escapes
TrailsMultiplies speed-gain rate while you train
Base / notice boardRaises home power and progresses Rebirth gates
Podium rosterTurns steals into continuous Cash

When Cash is limited, buy the role you are failing. Dying on escapes → treadmill. Rebirth panel stuck on base count → notice board. Training feels slow after basics → Trails. Always keep podiums fed.

PvP and base defense mindset

Other players can contest hauls before they ever reach a podium. Hotkey the bat and know when to flee — PvP Combat. Once a character is placed, your job shifts to collecting and upgrading, not standing still as a target in the doorway. Do not AFK on glowing green buttons in a crowded server without awareness.

Post-Rebirth base rebuild

After you Rebirth:

  1. Reseed podiums with anything reliable on the new map.
  2. Collect early Cash aggressively.
  3. Rebuy treadmill comfort, then restore notice-board progress.
  4. Reassess Trails.
  5. Resume rare hunting only after income is alive again.

Knowledge of door tells carries over; empty bases do not.

Session checklist

  1. Redeem any working codes.
  2. Note empty podiums before you leave base.
  3. Complete at least one fill-and-collect cycle.
  4. Open the notice board and buy one meaningful upgrade if you can afford it.
  5. Train treadmill if escapes still feel tight.
  6. Check Rebirth requirements before ending the session.

Treat the base like a factory floor: no empty stations, no uncollected output, and every Cash spike bought into the upgrades that open the next map. That discipline is what turns Spot the Fake For Anime from “I stole once” into a real incremental climb.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I upgrade my home base?

Spend Cash at the notice board in front of your base (and related shop UI). Confirm live prices in your session.

What does the green button do?

It collects Cash generated by characters on that podium. Place units, then step the green button so income actually banks.

Why are empty podiums bad?

Empty podiums produce nothing. Fill every slot with a deliverable farmer before chasing contested rares.

Do base upgrades matter for Rebirth?

Yes. Rebirth expects specified home-base and treadmill upgrade counts. Skipping the notice board stalls map unlocks.

Should I buy base upgrades or treadmill first?

Early on, prioritize treadmill speed after first Cash, then base upgrades, then Trails — see Treadmill and Trails.

Can codes help with base upgrades?

Yes. Redeem community-reported strings on Codes and sink early Cash into speed and notice-board progress.
